Adventure Physio
South Africa is host to many incredible multistage race events. We have a beautiful country to explore with many a farm owner opening up their lands to provide race events with some incredible trails. Multistage races are tough , resulting in increased physical and emotional demands on the athlete. Our passionate physios are ready to keep bodies in great shape to get you through each day's challenges.
AdventurePhysio was started off by Claire Fuller in 2009 working for a handful of private clients at the ABSA Cape Epic. From there she worked at many other race events around the country, and the need for a qualified physiotherapy service became apparent. Over the last six years she has built up a client base which include many of the country's top multistage events. At these events we have helped many athletes- everyone from the racing snakes to weekend warriors have benefitted.
The Physiotherapists employed for all race events are all qualified physiotherapists who have completed or are in the process of completing their post graduate Sports Physiotherapy and Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (SPT/ OMT) courses. These courses enable the physio to better evaluate and treat each athlete- using skills that are current and evidence based.

What we do
Injuries are inevitable at these races- we see both old recurring niggles playing up and new unexpected injuries. These can both be debilitating if you do not get the right treatment at the right time.
At AdventurePhysio we have a large "toolbox" of treatments to offer each individual patient
- Skilled evaluations of each presenting injury and condition,
- Application of the appropriate treatment techniques for the phase of healing of each injury
- Evidence- based rehabilitation programmes.
We are dedicated to providing each athlete with the knowledge of how to manage and be aware of their injuries during a race event and to make informed decisions regarding their injuries new or old!
Athletes are able to book directly with us either via a link on the race websites (eg: http://joberg2c.co.za/physio-bookings/)
or through our email address, claire@adventurephysio.co.za.
We encourage pre bookings and can usually accommodate walk-ins on the day.
Sessions are generally 45 minutes- 1 hour long and include the following:
- 30 minutes hands on with specific soft tissue massage, spinal and peripheral mobilization, dry needling and strapping.
- 15-30 minutes rehabilitation with foam rollers and various stretching and rehab equipment
- 15 minutes Bemer blanket for muscle recovery.(http://www.bemer3000.co.za/what_bemer_does.htm)
